Speaking at the 24th International Kurdish Culture Festival in Cologne, PYD co-chairman Salih Muslim noted that the Kurdish people are re-writing history in Rojava (northern Syria) and the Middle East. Muslim added, “Turkey will also lose like Daesh.”
The 24th International Kurdish Culture Festival took place with the attendance of thousands in the German city of Cologne on Saturday. Holding a speech in the festival, the PYD co-chair Salih Muslim sent out messages in Kurdish, Arabic and Turkish. Muslim started off his speech with a message on the resistful spirit of the Kurds, “We said once again in another festival like this four years ago that we are a people who are fighters, we have gained experience from our ancestors and we are the disciples of our leader Ocalan” said Muslim.
Muslim added, “Today the Kurdish people in Rojava wishes to establish a new system. The Kurdish people wants to establish a libertarian and federal system. This system is a solution to the Middle East at the same time. This is the reason why they are fighting for this. Everyone should know that the Kurdish people have reached a significant stage and is leading the struggle for democracy. They are fighting with Daesh and their alliance. When Daesh falls, all of them will fall as well.”
Noting that the Kurdish people are taking part in a struggle in many places around the world, Muslim said, “Our people are part of a struggle in Kobani, Jarablus, Strasbourg and you are here to take part in a struggle. This shows that you are with Rojava, the YPG and Qandil”
Muslim added that the model that has been formed in Rojava is the model given by the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, stating, “The model that we have established is the model that had been advised by Ocalan. This is the model we are leading in the Middle East. We do not want the countries and states of the Middle East to be torn apart. We are for unity and for people to live together. Today, we are the ones who recognize human rights and respect the most in Syria. History is being re-written by the hands of the Kurds in Rojava and the Middle East today.”
Lastly, Muslim said, “We are not against the people of Turkey and Syria. We hold respect towards everyone. We are carrying out the struggle for brotherhood. We are doing this with our own blood. What does the AKP do? They are helping Daesh.”
Muslim affirmed that Rojava cannot be a threat to Turkish citizens as he said, “They [the AKP] do not understand what brotherhood and fairness is. They keep on making threats. We want the struggle for brotherhood to carry on. Rojava has never been a threat to the people of Turkey. Nobody should believe these claims.”
